Good Times

Good times

nothing to say

I've been through bad times

they fade away

crazy times

lost and found

this is the night time

things turn around

Try to remember

that was yesterday

Things change day by day by day

Ooh the next one might be the one to stay

after all is said and done

these are the Good Times

these are the Good Times

Cool down

You're burning down

make a phone call

walk around

patience please

spend the whole day

sometimes things

don't go your way

Try to remember

that was yesterday

Things change day by day by day

Ooh the next one might be the one to stay

after all is said and done

these are the Good Times

these are the Good Times

Good Times, etc.

Hollywood

Last time I saw you, you were rolling down the road

You moved to Hollywood to test your heart and soul

There must be movie stars who play their life away

They play in Hollywood while living in LA

Part of you is hurting and the other part is flirting with your new found ways

The city keeps your friends at bay

Then it says they’re here to stay, stay in Hollywood

Walk by the ocean, feel the water and the sky

Walk like a jewelry store with diamonds in your eyes

You must admit to me you know the rules to bend

You play your cards correct you’ll never lose again.

Part of you is hurting and the other part is flirting with your new found ways

The city keeps your friends at bay

Then it says they’re here to stay, stay in Hollywood

You live your life in Hollywood

You close your eyes in Hollywood

You live your lies in Hollywood

In Hollywood

Funky Evolution

In the middle of this life,

if life were just a day,

I am born in the early, early morning,

and

die at the stroke of midnight,

I feel like early afternoon

with an Indian wind

blowing in my eyes.

a sulfur chill is in the air.

My fingers play

on the rough edges of my

black jeans, my

perfect

little uniform

Summer is behind me

my head is nearly gone

memories of pealing bells

and staggering home at dawn.

Where am I going?

I am an express train,

smirking and saucy,

daring and stupid,

blinded by the snow

reckless as a shooting star

My fingers play on the rough edges of my

black jeans

there’s always hope,

so I keep on saying:

I’ve got something for you, you are gonna love

I've got something for you, you are gonna love

I come to a stairwell

leads to the basement

a cliff to jump off of

into the waters below,

I’ll make it to shore for sure

This is funky evolution

in the murky muddy deep,

things are crawling from the ocean, I’m just trying to get some sleep

like a shifty little reptile

My fingers play….etc.

Straight Lines

All lines curve now and then

Stretching out along the meridian

Sunflowers look straight and without end

Push them hard enough they will bend

Lying in bed, half-awake

And all my dreams seemed half-baked

Then I remember they are stories, not a cake

But, if you want to analyze them, please, give me a break

Feeling frazzled, in a state

A little woozy, could be something I ate

You drag a hook, I’ll take the bait

I would jump right in, not even hesitate

I always got a hi, with a smile and what’s up?

I run late even in my sleep, always playing catch up

So much stuff happening at once, it’s a major mash up

Can’t even find the time pick the trash up

I came into money, gave you a mink stole

Lost it all, now I’m on the dole

My life story is so full of holes

Join me and burrow in deep, be just like a mole

And when you’re down there with me in the dirt

You’ll find everything’s far from inert.

Always looking around, on high alert.

I have been this way from the moment of birth.

Absent My Mind

(Guidance for things that tend to go in circles)

If I put my mind to it

a propeller on a plane

can be a hand held fan

or a ceiling fan

radiating out like a sand dollar

a horse in repose, is wound tight

(the horse is on its side or upside down. I forget which)

ready to gallop in wide circles

with textile ripples that radiate and radiate out

like a rug violently shaken

you have to get past that tense calm

past the clear eyes

to the hooves pointed skyward

muscles twitching in every aspect of potential energy

all dressed up

everywhere to go

the horse radiating outward

ready to jump, gallop

into the goddamn sky

if necessary

such horrific strength

you would not believe

muscle memory

pure nature

step 1: radiate out

step 2: lift weight skyward

Like a young child, I want to try

So I move my arms in large circles

like a propeller, galloping

waves of fabric trampled below

waves of muscle and fabric and fan blades whirring and whooshing

and tensing and contracting and releasing and moving the clutter around.

Repeat and fade

Starting to Know

I’m starting to know how something can

get a hold of me, put me in a trance

not long ago, I had this dream

where I was falling

get ready to go, go grab your stuff

you’re coming with me, I’ve had enough.

we’re going away-ay

no one can find us

all kinds of swirling images remain

wish I could show you, they’re all across my brain

feel kind of sleepy but I’m pretty much the same

much the same

it’s starting to rain like when you cry

crawl under a bed or try to hide

try speaking words collect your thoughts

in a basket, under a rock

you gotta respond to all the pain

building up and down again

once in your life my dear, don’t be a fool

have some patience, keep your cool

Those days of summer finally take a bow

some crazy karma makes you wonder how

grass can survive, when darkness covers ground

while eagles, stardust, flow gently up above

where all the mountains majestically enthrall

standing beneath them you don’t feel so tall

rivers winding through the valley underneath

the wind is blowing, up your sleeve

no one around us, it’s only you and me

life isn’t over, but we can still rest here in peace
